Our Truckers and Techs Are the Best of the Best!

We’re celebrating Walmart drivers and maintenance technicians during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, September 15–21, 2024.

Walmart’s private fleet of more than 15,000 Class A drivers deliver countless loads of merchandise to Walmart and Sam’s Club locations across the country while our maintenance techs keep them safe on the road.

“You wear that uniform with pride… And being a part of that makes me a better person. Because to know I'm part of that elite fleet, I’ve got to make sure I'm stepping my game up every day,” says driver Antoine Sadler.

Our drivers and maintenance technicians are the rock stars who keep us rolling! So that’s how it’s going. Here’s how it started…

Big Rigs and Big Shoes to Fill

When you think of our supply chain team, you probably picture someone behind the wheel of a Walmart truck delivering merchandise. But there’s a lot more to it. Take it from some of the associates who make up our supply chain:

JB Quarles

JB is a Walmart driver who also delivers water, supplies and hot meals to disaster victims through the Disaster Relief Team: “That's what I love to do: Give back,” he shares. “Walmart provides a lot of great ways to do that.”

Manny Lopez

Manny is a member of the Road Team — an elite group of Walmart drivers who have a proven commitment to safety, skill and mentorship. Members train other drivers and represent Walmart at industry and community events. “I represent all the drivers in the driver’s seat. When I meet other drivers, I get to say, this is what Walmart is all about: being a top-notch driver, being an ambassador on the highway.”

Ralph Alicea

As a maintenance technician, Ralph explains, “We make sure the trailers are safe and roadworthy, because we don’t want any problems when they’re going down the road carrying 80,000 pounds of merchandise.”

Warren Crane

Warren is a man of milestones. He’s one of just two Walmart drivers in the company’s history to go 5 million safe miles! His advice for staying safe out there? Take it one mile at a time, one day at a time.

Jenny Lovering

Jenny coordinates more than 100 drivers with stops at more than 40 DCs in her job as a general transportation manager. “I feel like I went to the ‘school of Walmart’ and all these leaders that I've had along the way have really helped build me up and molded me into the leader that I am today.”

Alfonso Guerrero

Alfonso is a certified driver trainer. “I try to teach them the Walmart way. I give them a little bit of my knowledge, so they don't have to go through what I went through,” he says.

Crystal Rodriguez-Santiago

Crystal graduated from the Associate-to Driver Program — a 12-week program where associates can get their CDL. “I joined the program to create a better future for me and my daughter,” she says. “It’s a big opportunity and a life-changing career move.”
